Fairbanks, Alaska -- near the finish line of the annual Midnight Sun Run, I asked a boy standing casually with his dog draped around his neck if I could take his picture. He agreed (as is shown in the previous two photographs) but kept insisting: "You have to see them, though, the little girl and her dog." Almost before I was ready, she held her arms out and the dog jumped into them, grasping and wrapping its paws around her to hold on in a hug.
